No event in 2024
Yarrabilba Trail Fest runs into the national park from the Yarrabilba residential area. We're fortunate to work with the welcoming developer there, who often specially prepares a suitable start/finish zone. We only open entries and advertise the race once this has been done, so we can confidently inform you of the event distances and produce the route maps. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to do this in time to allow you to enter and prepare for the race in 2024. Instead of hanging on with uncertainty, we've decided not to hold the race in 2024 and look forward to Yarrabilba 2025.
REGISTRATIONS
Online entries close at 5pm on the Friday prior to the event, unless sold out earlier. On-the-day entries will be available for an additional fee, if the entry limit has not been reached.
PARKING
Parking will be legal street parking available along the side of residential streets. Please ensure you park according to all normal road rules to avoid fines and respect the local residents. The event precinct is in an area not yet open to the public so we’ll update you with accurate parking details close to the event date. To find the event please drive to the end of Yarrabilba Drive and follow signage, as the event location is not yet available on most GPS mapping tools. Please DO NOT park on vacant blocks or across footpaths - park in the nominated areas or in marked bays only.
RACE NUMBERS
Race numbers will be available for collection on race day only. Please ensure you have collected your number prior to the time listed in the key information above.
AGE LIMIT
Long Course - age 16+ on event day
Medium Course - age 13+ on event day
Short Course - age 6+ on event day (there is a big hill to climb so it may not suit all 6 year olds)
ALL runners under the age of 12 MUST be directly accompanied by an adult guardian (18+), who is entered into the same event, for the duration of the run. There are no exceptions, regardless of their experience level. We highly recommend children of 12 and over are also accompanied by an adult.
CUT OFF TIMES
There are no cutoff times in the Yarrabilba Trail Fest. If you plan to walk most or all of the course, please enter either the Short or Medium events.
PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS
We expect that participants of the Yarrabilba Trail Fest events will be mindful of the fact that we are guests of Yarrabilba and the surrounding natural areas, and we particularly note the following:
Participants found littering or vandalising any section of the course will be disqualified from the event. There are no bins on course - please make sure that anything you take on to the course comes back with you. Rubbish bins will be provided at the event precinct.
Participants are to remain on the marked courses at all times. Do not trespass on neighbouring properties or natural areas.
Participants and spectators must drive to and from the event safely and be considerate of where they park. Do not park or drive on private premises.
Please be considerate of residents of Yarrabilba and keep noise at a minimum when arriving at and leaving the event.
PARTICIPANT SAFETY
We have taken considerable care in event planning to ensure that the events are safe and enjoyable. There are a few key points that you need to be aware of:
All roads within Yarrabilba will be open to traffic on the day of the event.
Please ensure that you listen to and follow any marshal directions.
Many of the trails in this area are not very widely used so they can feel more remote than some others in SE Queensland. Please consider your own health and safety and that of any minors in your care at all times.
Course MarkingS
Yarrabilba Trail Fest will be quite different to a road running event in that you will be required to keep an eye out for course markings as follows:
The course will be marked with a combination of yellow and pink tape and coloured directional arrows.
The flagging tape will be placed immediately following a track junction to confirm you are on the correct track. Markings on sections where there are no route options or intersections will be spread out and irregular.
Unless otherwise marked or directed, participants should follow the most major track at all intersections. If there is no marking at a minor track junction then continue along the major track.
Runners should keep to the left-most-side of all trails. There may be occasions where other park users are passing you heading in the opposite direction and in these instances the etiquette is the same as that when driving on the road.
Please follow all course markers, do not deviate from the course, and obey the instructions of the race officials at all times.
COMPULSORY GEAR
All runners in the Long Course and Medium Course events must have a water bottle or hydration vest with capacity for a minimum of 500mL of fluids. This must be carried with you for the duration of the run. This is also highly recommended for the Short Course event.
A mobile phone and snake bandage are recommended gear for all participants.
RACE REFRESHMENT STATIONS
Water will be available in the event precinct at the start/finish of the race.
Long Course & Medium Course: One aid station will be located on course with water available. There will be no cups so you must have your bottle or reservoir with you.
There is no aid station on course for the Short Course.
IMPORTANT: In an effort to minimise our waste impacts, there will be NO CUPS AT THE ON-COURSE AID STATION or at the finish line. You will need to carry a bottle or hydration pack to fill up at the on-course aid station. Note that this is a requirement for runners in these distances so should not be a problem for any runner.
RACE WITHDRAWAL
In the unfortunate situation a participant must withdraw from the event, you must inform event staff at the start/finish area even if you are getting yourself home.
FIRST AID
In the unlikely event of an emergency, First Aid will be located at the start/finish area. There will be some first aid access on course, however given the rugged nature of the course please be aware that there may be a delay in first aid arriving to assist you.
RACE TIMING
The event will be timed and official results will be published on the results page shortly after the completion of the event.
EVENT PRECINCT
Toilets will be available in the race precinct at Yarrabilba. Participants are encouraged to use these toilets before the race, as there will be NO TOILETS ON THE COURSE.
There will be car parking available near to the event precinct - please ensure you following the directions of all event marshals and park as and where instructed.
Note that there will be no left luggage facilities at the event precinct and you are advised to make your own arrangements for storing bags and other items.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring pop-up shade, picnic chairs and/or rugs to ensure comfort pre- and post-event.
